--A Complimentary 30-minute WebBrief--
Interactive notebooks can be student's and teacher's personal textbooks for observing, learning, and thinking in and out of the classroom – and can virtually eliminate worksheets and workbooks. Join SDE and award-winning educator & literacy coach Karen Haag for this complimentary WebBrief and learn how to use notebooks as authors do: collect, brainstorm, create, reflect, figure out, write, and remember. She'll discuss:
• Launching-daybook ideas
• Tips for coaxing children to be reflective readers, creative thinkers, and empowered writers
• Naturally differentiating learning for students
You'll leave with a better understanding of how notebooks make learning personal, organized, fun and effective!
Our presenter:
Karen Haag's 40-year career includes teaching grades 3-12, teaching college courses, and serving as a literacy coach for more than 14 years. She believes the best way to learn is through research- and activity-based professional development that allows teachers to acquire a hands-on understanding of the strategies needed for success in their classrooms. She is the co-author of "ReadyTest A-Z" (online lessons for grades 3-5) and is the co-author of "Thinking Out Loud On Paper: Student Daybooks as a Tool to Foster Learning."
