Event Details: Bullying and bias are serious issues that affect student safety, educational environment, and school liability. Schools in New Jersey must meet the dual challenge of complying with the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights (ABR) while also protecting student safety using evidence-based recommended practices for addressing bullying. This presentation focuses on school bullying, ABR and NJ LAD compliance, diversity awareness, strategies for addressing bias in the school environment, and practical solutions for ABR implementation. Participants will learn to distinguish bullying from conflict and social mistakes, to understand the distinction between "classical bullying" and "HIB" as defined by the ABBOR, warning signs of bullying and bullied youth and common mistakes and omissions that can leave students unsafe and districts vulnerable.
The workshop will be presented by Dr. Paula Rodriguez Rust.
